Richard G. Turlington, AIA

As an art and a profession, architecture is Richard Turlington's way of life and his commitment; his is a life-long belief that architecture makes a difference in the way we live and understand our world. While fullfilling architecture's promise to serve specific functions and settings his designs achieve a harmony between creative and technical goals. For Mr. Turlington, the spirit of architecture lies in its universal adaptability, the shaping of environments that can reflect each client's notions of context and beauty.

Throughout his 25-year career, Mr. Turlington has had a long-term experience in the retail and academic arenas and in mulit-residential spaces such as hospitals and health care facilities. Richard Turlington founded the firm with Fran Albis to provide high-quality architectural services in which clients' functional, aesthetic, scheduling and budget requirements are strategic elements in every project's design and implementation.

Since 1998, Mr. Turlington has been actively involved in the Connecticut Chapter of the American Institute of Architects. He serves on the Board of Directors, has been an executive officer since 2001 and is president-elect for 2003-2004 term. He is actively involved with the AIA's Design Committee, which is concerned with promoting higher-quality design within the State. Mr. Turlington is also a member of the Board of Directors of the Connecticut Architecture Foundation, an organization that provides architectural scholarships and fosters appreciation of architecture's contribution to the quality of life.
